Det A, 177th USASA Company P-Y-Do Korea Radio Direction Finding Detachment
Title: Py-Do Cuban missile crisis
Thx for posting article and photos. I was stationed on Py-Do at that very time. Was in USAF communications squadron. Provided comm. For Korean radar site. I don't remember any Army people, there were two Marines that had their own compound. My barracks was just south of the one in photo. I arrived from the mainland on a LCU. Spent 13 mos. there. Took an RnR. Out on C-47 and back on Korean C46. Found a video on line of a C-130 landing on that beach.
The base commander, a Col. had a broken leg, from falling down steps in front of officers club. Picture of girl in Village, looks like one of the girls that worked in the chow hall.
