Just Where Was Det A?

Tom, I have been trying to determine exactly where it was, but to no avail.  I do know that it was on the North East portion of the island, about 200 yards from the beach.  When we performed our monthly calibration procedures, we would set the transit in the middle of the Crossed U Adcock antenna, in order to make sure that the target antenna was set exactly at every 10 degrees.  As we did that, we could look through the  transit and see the N. Korean guns pointed our way.  ( I believed that they were pointed directly at our hut).  There was a fighting trench dug just a few yards from high tide level.  I have tried to find the trench using Google Satellite photos, but I wasn't sure if I was looking at the trench or a road.

Sorry, but this is about the best that I can do after almost 50 years.

I'm now hosting Dave Johnson's P-Y-do site on a sub-domain as a separate site. Dave is retiring, but wanted a home for his site to remain available for those interested. I'm happy to help. TomH

I was stationed in Korea July 61 thru August 62. I was a member of the Air Force comm. Squadron, responsible for the radio communication on the island July thru December of 1961. The site was a missile guidance location for the Matador missile. If needed they would be launched from the main land and guided on to their target from here. It got very interesting a couple of times when the South Koreans would challenge the North by sending ships closer and closer to the North Korean Island. We were able to see the shells coming from the North Korean Mainland when they got too close.
