Comment Title: DF Sites locating project
Author Name: Richard Kremzier   Date posted: 08 Feb 2011 07:30 -0800
Comment: Greetings from a Bahrdorf 63-65 vet. I was ELINT 993/98J, working in the shack under the platform tower on the fenced ops site. The DF site (I think it was called Charlie Site) in the field across the road from the ops site was gone by the time I got there. Heard about it from the Bahrdorfers who preceded me, whom I met at Bahrdorf reunions.

Hey, I started a project, locating ASA sites. Back in 2007, I found your DF Net group site and I did the best I could at locating all the DF sites listed. Many I could not find; and I left it at that.

Now, I am hot-to-gallop going forward on locating all those sites that I didn’t find. Where best to seek help other than from the DF Net gang? I was pleased and excited when Tom said he was all for it. I sent him my DF Sites placemark folder, needing so much help to complete; and Tom has run with it -- most impressively (You have a great webmaster). Please do join us in the grand sport of pin-pointing the location of all the DF sites. Looking forward to the fun of it all with you,

Rich Kremzier

Comment: I was one of four DF operators assigned to Berlin 1963-1964. Our positions never showed up on the organizational charts (TOE) and when Frankfurt some how found out we were there, after about 18 months, all four of us were transfered out to the "Zone" (i.e. West Germany). Rick Dekker and I went to Kassel and then Handorf and the other two operators were assigned to the NCO Academy in Bad "something".
