Located centrally on the North Coast of Turkey on the Beautiful Black Sea.
Most of the material here for the Sinop DF Site have been provided by Ron Knief, ASA Europe Sit Office Maintenance Team, derived frm a 30 day TDY trip and from Brian Alpert, a DF
Operator who was assigned to the hill a few years later.

Me (Ron Knief) outside the EM club at Sinop overlooking the town.

sin-kni-004-2tnA view of the motor pool, chapel and Jane Way huts that we lived in for the 30 day TDY period we were there.

Ron's story relating his TDY  trip is on the History & Memories Page.

Brian Alpert

sin-alp-007tnMe (Brian Alpert) playing with Ufuck, one of the five pups. There is another pup in the background with one of the Labs, either Mark or Mike.

sin-alp-002tnLee Skinner again. You might thing there was more then water in that jerry can <G>.

sin-alp-003tnRalph Vance in front of the truck.

sin-alp-004tnI think that is  Mark on the far left with Bob Ramage next and Farthing  who was one of the Navy guys from NAVDET who would work at the site from time to time. Bob was the NCOIC and they were doing some maintenance on the antennas which is why Russel was out there in previous picture.

sin-alp-005tnThis was the site repairman whose last name was Russel.

sin-alp-006tnMy fantastic trick at the back of the mess hall where we waited for our rides out to the Point Site. For some reason the dynamos weren't wearing their capes that day. left to right we have: Lee Skinner, John Goodfellow and Dave Sawyer.

sin-alp-012TNThat is Walley Jones throwing a rock. I have spoken to Walley about this picture and he claims he is not screwing around throwing rocks but is busy feeding the dogs.

The last picture at the bottom is Clayton Lohr.  I have learned that Clayton passed away in the late 70s in California. He was acting NCOIC for awhile after Bob Ramage left the Hill . He reenlisted in Sinop and I heard he had a reputation for being a great scrounger on his tour in Vietnam.
